WHY: 'IF YOU HAVE A SKILL, YOU HAVE A JOB'
In a recent interview with MEDIA PLANET (see link below), Mike Holmes shared a few nuggets for young people considering the trades as a career option...
"It's a great career. If you love it, you will go far. There's good pay, and when you're really good, there's no telling how far you can go. The demand for tradespeople is huge, and it's growing every year. So chances are, if you have a skill, you'll have a job - and a good one. Being in the trades is an advantage. Having a skill is an advantage. It's an investment you can't lose.'
He emphasizes the importance of FOCUS in learning and mastering a skilled trade...
Its good advice, and timeless really. Wise ancient King Solomon had the same advice: 'Have you seen a man skillful at his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before common men.'
Developing your skills may not lead you to work for nobility, but it will ensure that you are known as a quality craftsman. A fine reputation will lead to more work on custom projects that offer higher margins. Creating your own job security while working on houses fit for a king is not a bad option in todays project based economy.
